Edenvale SAPS urges tighter fuel station security
Similar incidents, including one at an Engen on Andries Pretorius Road, highlight a growing concern. Police are investigating and call on the public to share any information.
Following a recent armed robbery, the Edenvale SAPS urged fuel stations in Edenvale and the surrounding areas to increase security.
The Edenvale Police Station’s communication officer, Warrant Officer Jacob Mashile, said there was an armed robbery at the Astron garage in Edenglen on May 18.
“One thief entered the shop, pointed a firearm at the cashier and demanded cash,” said Mashile, adding that they made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

“This is not the first armed robbery involving a fuel station.”
Mashile said thieves similarly targeted an Engen on Andries Pretorius Road.
“We appeal to all fuel stations to beef up their security,” said Mashile.
The Edenvale SAPS is investigating armed robbery cases and appeals to the community and the public for any information related to the crimes.
