Burnt body found in Elandsfontein, mob justice suspected
Upon arrival, police discovered the charred remains of a male victim whose hands were bound with wire.
The Bedfordview SAPS is investigating a suspected case of mob justice following the discovery of a burnt body in Elandsfontein, behind the Mabondeni Informal Settlement dumpsite.
The incident took place on June 14.
According to the Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Lillian Modiga, officers received a complaint at approximately 17:50 regarding a body found near the Elandsfontein railway line, situated on a dumping site behind the informal settlement.

Upon arrival, police discovered the charred remains of a male victim whose hands were bound with wire.
“The victim is a known Zimbabwean national. At this stage, no arrests have been made. The case is under active investigation,” said Modiga.
Police are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
