The MMC for Developmental Planning and Real Estate, Nomadlozi Nkosi, stressed that women’s empowerment meant creating enabling environments where women were heard, respected and protected.

“True empowerment is about ensuring women have the space to thrive without fear, while giving them the tools to participate equally in shaping the economy,” Nkosi said.

The session formed part of the city’s Women’s Month programme, which includes a series of events designed to uplift and empower women across different sectors.

Another event, titled Empower a Girl Child, will take place in KwaThema on August 29, further highlighting the city’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and supporting women and girls in their personal and professional development.
