Ekurhuleni council welcomes new ANC councillor

Councillor Jean Claude Sthato was officially sworn in by Speaker Ald Dorah Mlambo on February 16, marking his formal entry into the City of Ekurhuleni Council.

The City of Ekurhuleni officially welcomed a new African National Congress (ANC) councillor.

Councillor Jean Claude Sthato took his oath of office before the Speaker of Council, Ald Dorah Mlambo, in line with Rule 11 (1), (2) and (3) of the City of Ekurhuleni Standing Orders By-Law.

These provisions allow councillors to swear or affirm their allegiance to the Republic, the Constitution, and Council either during a council meeting or at any arranged time before the Speaker in the Speaker’s Office.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mlambo extended a warm welcome to Sthato.

She wished him success in his new role, encouraging him to serve the residents of Ekurhuleni with integrity and dedication while upholding the oath he had sworn.

With the oath complete, Sthato is now authorised to participate fully in the official business of the Council.
