Three motorists arrested for drunk driving in Bedfordview
Three men aged between 31 and 44 were arrested in Bedfordview after breathalyser tests confirmed they were driving above the legal alcohol limit, according to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD).
The EMPD has arrested three motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol in Bedfordview.
According to the EMPD, members of the Overloads Unit conducted a random vehicle inspection on Kraft Road when they stopped three vehicles.
During the interaction, officers detected a strong smell of alcohol on the driver’s breath. One of the vehicles was also found to contain open bottles of alcohol.
Breathalyser tests were administered and confirmed that all three motorists were above the legal alcohol limit.
The drivers, aged between 31 and 44, were transported to a nearby healthcare facility for blood samples to be drawn.

They were subsequently detained at the Bedfordview Police Station.
The three are facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and are expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
The EMPD has urged motorists to refrain from drinking and driving, warning that law enforcement operations will continue across the City of Ekurhuleni to improve road safety.
