Ekurhuleni reviews budget with focus on infrastructure and services
The City of Ekurhuleni’s Budget Steering Committee reviewed departmental proposals for the 2026/ 27 budget, prioritising repairs, maintenance and improved service delivery.
The City of Ekurhuleni recently held a Budget Steering Committee session at the OR Tambo Administration Building, where heads of department presented proposals ahead of the tabling of the 2026/ 27 annual budget.
The meeting was chaired by MMC for Finance, Jongizizwe Dlabathi, and the acting group financial officer, General Moruri. Officials assessed departmental allocations to ensure alignment with the city’s strategic priorities and the efficient use of public funds.

According to the municipality, the session aimed to promote transparency, accountability and community-focused planning, while shaping a sustainable budget that responds to residents’ needs.

The municipality confirmed that insights from the session will inform the final 2026/ 27 budget, which is aimed at enhancing service delivery and strengthening governance across the metro.
