RAG Chairperson Anjela da Silva shared that the petition asked the CoE to urgently repair the dangerous hole in the road that was left after the municipality worked on a burst water pipe on the corner of the aforementioned roads.
“An accident occurred because of this dangerous road hazard. When underground infrastructure is fixed by the CoE, the municipality is obligated to fully repair the road surface without delay so that road users are not endangered. Our streets should be safe for everyone. RAG cares, and we demand action from the CoE now!”
The EMPD were contacted for comment regarding the accident on March 23, but had not yet provided it at the time of going to press.
The City of Ekurhuleni was also contacted for comment on March 23, but had not yet responded at the time of going to press.
