Final push for Galway Primary 5km fundraising walk
With days to go, the Walking the Talk Foundation’s 5km fundraising walk aims to draw thousands in support of Galway Primary’s new language lab, with strong backing from sponsors and the local community.
With only a few days left until the 5km fundraising walk for Galway Primary School is held, it’s all systems go.
On April 12, Walking the Talk Foundation, in partnership with Macsteel, will host a fundraising walk to benefit Galway Primary.
In the build up to the walk Bedforedview and Ednvale News and Germiston City News are partnering with Walking the Talk Foundation as a media partner and will keep the community updated and informed about the event as it draws closer.

The walk will raise funds, which will go towards Galway Primary’s new language lab.
In the buildup to the walk, through the collaboration of partners and donors, construction of the classroom has already begun and is well underway.
Founder and director of Walking the Talk Foundation, Dale van Blerk, said the language lab will provide learners with access to a modern, future-focused learning environment, similar to those used in leading schools around the world, greatly enhancing both teaching and learning experiences.
Van Blerk explained that preparations for the walk are progressing well.

“It has been a truly rewarding journey to witness the collaboration between donors, the foundation, and the school.

“The day promises to be filled with joy, unity, and a strong sense of community, bringing together both community members and corporate partners in a spirit of togetherness,” said Van Blerk.
Last March, the NPO hosted a 5km walk in KZN and assisted West Park School.
Van Blerk said the event drew 400 participants.
Walking the Talk Foundation hopes to attract 2 500 community members to this year’s event.
Van Blerk described the 5km walk as a flat and easy route.

“It has been carefully planned and marked out by our team, and it has been officially approved by the metro police,” said van Blerk.
“The only road closures will be at Delville North Road, where the route crosses Webber Road, and at Morgan Road crossing Webber into Delville South Road.
“These closures will be in place for approximately 30 minutes.”
Van Blerk said the remainder of the route runs through residential areas and does not include any major intersections.

Along the route, security (Fidelity ADT ) and medical services (Medicross 911) will be available.
Water points will be available at the 2km and 4km marks.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a hat and sunscreen; however, van Blerk said that water, Fruitree juice, and Futurelife energy bars will be provided at no cost by PepsiCo to each walker.
Secure parking will be available on the day, with car guards and marshals assisting and directing attendees to the designated parking areas.
Van Blerk said highlighted that the foundation is grateful to have several partners and sponsors who have made this event possible these include: Macsteel (Main Platinum Partner, funding the event), Famous Brands (Steers and Milky Lane contributing 10% towards the classroom build), Filthy Moustache (coffee trailer contributing 10%), PepsiCo (providing refreshments, Fruitree juise and energy bars, future life, Fidelity ADT (security), Medicross 911 (medical support), Ford (vehicle sponsor), Lake Eland (sponsoring a R12 000 holiday prize for the best banner made by someone around love), and Nashua (sponsoring caps and water bottles).

“We are incredibly grateful for the support received so far and are confident that we will be able to announce the completion of the classroom on the day of the walk,” said van Blerk.
