New Bedfordview restaurant offers dining experience for every occasion

From family meals and date nights to special celebrations, the new restaurant aims to become a go-to destination for locals seeking good food and a welcoming atmosphere.

Located in the heart of Bedfordview, Taratza on Kloof is a restaurant for all occasions.

Owner Basil Yandas, who also owns Harpers Restaurant and Café in Eastgate, opened up Taratza in mid-December of 2025.

Patrons may enjoy a stunning view of Bedfordview while sitting quietly and working in the warm, comfortable and relaxing atmosphere of the Taratza restaurant in the morning.

Security is tight at this beautifully designed restaurant with elegant surroundings.

There is a function room available for special occasions such as bridal showers, baby showers, and birthday parties.

Comfortable seating areas, both indoors and outdoors, provide the perfect setting for friends to catch up at any time of the day.

Children are not left behind, as a play area is available for them to play in while parents observe.

“I want it to become a casual local watering hole in the heart of Bedfordview,” said Yandas.

Patrons can come for breakfast, a light lunch and even a casual dinner.

The family-oriented menu features a variety of breakfast options, followed by light snacks, wraps, salads, and more.

Yandas added, “I make ‘Basil’s signature sushi’, which has been exceptionally well-received.”

Taratza has a delightful range of burgers and pastas; they make a great beef stir-fry and a stunning prawn curry.

“Whatever you fancy, if it be a light snack or something more substantial, then join us. Come for sundowners and enjoy a cocktail. Come for date night, come with family and friends on the weekend.

“Make a booking to enjoy your special occasions here,” Yandas said.

Taratza on Kloof can accommodate large crowds. There are jojo tanks and a generator in case of any water or power outages. Operation times are from 07:00 till late and are available seven days a week.
