Nedbank continues to investigate fraud case

The bank said it continues to invest significantly in both advanced security measures and ongoing customer awareness initiatives to help protect clients against fraud.

After losing over R1m following a sophisticated cyberattack, Dowerglen resident Luisa Westphal has raised concerns about banking security.

Several of Westphal’s Nedbank accounts were targeted, turning her life upside down and allowing scammers to make off with R1 276 100 from her and her husband’s accounts.


In response to Bedfordview and News’ request for comment, Nedbank stated that it takes all allegations of fraud seriously and is committed to supporting clients affected by criminal activity.

In its response, the bank emphasised that this matter is subject to a formal dispute and is being addressed with the client through her appointed legal representatives.


Therefore, it would not be appropriate for the bank to comment on the specifics of the case at this point.
