Rotarians raise funds for Bethany Home to fight GBV

“We have approached various players and sponsors to assist us in raising money."

Rotary Club of Knights Pendragon is set to host a fundraiser to assist in the fight against GBV.

The golf day will be held on June 7 at the Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club.

Director of fund raising for the club, Bill Brunjes, said all proceeds will go to Bethany Home.

A fourball will cost R4000 and sponsorship participation will start at R3000 for a tee or green with options ranging up to R50 000 for a complete package including naming rights.

“We have approached various players and sponsors to assist us in raising money and have postulated that some publicity could assist.

“Bethany Home cares for women who are physically and mentally abused, often accompanied by small children, the organisation assists them by rehabilitating them.

“They are housed and fed, given counselling to assist in getting over the trauma, taught a profession or trade, and when ready found a job and accommodation to set themselves up for independent survival.

“During their stay children are enrolled in a nearby school or nursery school to assist in their development as well.

“Bethany’s survival is dependent on private funding and our Rotary Club is trying to assist.”
