Residents talk about flooding

Residents speak their mind on metro's action at Eastleigh Spruit

Community members in the Edenvale CBD were asked whether they had faith in Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality to repair the Eastleigh Spruit for good following the severe damages to homes, businesses and infrastructure in last year’s November 9 floods.

Luvuyo Tsawe said, “The municipality will fix the spruit but the management of the municipality does not care about the damages to businesses.”
Gidion Tsalana said, “Yes, the municipality will fix the spruit. The have to, it is not safe for the people the way it is now. They need to reconstruct and widen the spruit. Hopefully, when they do the repairs they will make use of local job seekers.”
Lorenzo Risi said, “No, I don’t think they will fix the spruit. I don’t think they have the money.”
