Editor – I thank former councillor Alison van der Molen for the good things she did in ward 118, but she fails to acknowledge that many residents had valid grievances about her aggressive style and unacceptable acts like walking out of a residents’ meeting.
Changing one party for another should be based on principle, not self-interest.
Recent defectors to the ANC have received well-paying positions in the council and in the provincial government.
Alison has yet to explain what she finds appealing about ANC policies and the abysmal way in which they run Johannesburg.
She was often quoted blaming the ANC, so what has changed now?
I look forward to her defence of ANC rampant corruption and the spending of R246-million on President Jacob Zuma’s Nkandla homestead.
Voters will give their judgement in the general election on May 7 and in the ward 118 by-election on May 28.
Jack Bloom MPL,
DA Johannesburg East Constituency Head.
