Good samaritan lends a hand

"Despite my protests, he insisted to pay for my R400 purchase and wished me a merry Christmas."

Editor – I want to take this opportunity to say a public thank you to a very generous gentleman who assisted me in my time of need on December 13.

While waiting to pay for groceries at the Terrace Road Pick n Pay, I realised I had forgotten to bring my wallet.

I explained this to the cashier and asked if I could leave my basket and return with my wallet.

The gentleman in front of me, who had just finished paying and saw my predicament, told the cashier that he would pay for my purchase.

Despite my protests he insisted to pay for my R400 purchase and wished me a merry Christmas.

When I asked him for his address, so that I could return his money, he refused to tell me.

In the end we shook hands and parted ways.

Thank you so much,

K Schweitzer.
