Bedfordview residents warned about “meter readers”

"I watched from the camera inside as he took plenty of pictures with his camera of my house and the neighbour’s house."

EDITOR – A man came to our gate and said that he is a meter reader on July 12.

Two of us were standing in the driveway and looked at him.

He had no identification on the left side of his shirt and didn’t have the smiling face of the man who we usually allow into our home to read the meter for years.

Something told us both not to open the gate.

I watched from the camera inside as he took plenty of pictures with his camera of my house and the neighbour’s house.

I called CPG Armed Response, but it was too late, he had gone down the road and out of view.

I spoke to the municipal office in Bedfordview and told them what had happened, with his description.

She said ‘oh, they’re back’. Last year in December a group was going around claiming to be meter readers. I didn’t dare ask her what had happened.

Bedfordview residents need to be aware of this.

The Bedfordview municipal office hasn’t had meter readers in a while as their tender has run out.

They were looking at new tenders now as they have no meter readers at the moment.

On July 15, another man came to my home while I was out, but my housekeeper knew to not let him in.

Please, Bedfordview and surrounds, watch out.
