Cyclist thanks helpful nature of others

I have no recollection of the accident because I was knocked unconscious.

EDITOR – On the morning of January 11 at about 7.30am I was riding my mountain bike on Elm Road, not far from Glen Curve when I had an accident and fell off.

I have no recollection of the accident because I was knocked unconscious.

When I came to, there were people helping me and someone had called my wife to fetch me.

I had to spend the night in the Linksfield Hospital for observation, but apart from cracked ribs and a mildly punctured lung, I am fine.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Wayne from Dowerglen Extension Three for stopping on his bike and assisting me.

He managed to get my home telephone number from me (I was wearing an ICE bracelet) and phoned my wife.

Another couple going to Parkrun also stopped and put a blanket under me and assisted, not that I recall a thing.

They left without me being able to thank them.

Wayne was the only one I was able to thank later.

To that couple, my sincere thanks for stopping and helping me. It is people like you and Wayne who make the difference.

David Crossley,

Dowerglen.
