Local golfer swings for success at championships

Du Plessis was joint leader after the first round, with a 2-under 70 and over the next three days continued pushing forward.

Balderstone Sports Institute congratulated Keegan du Plessis for his outstanding performance and victory in the BSI Open Championship.

The second-year PGA Diploma student competed on the Royal Johannesburg West Course from November 25 – 28.

Du Plessis was joint leader after the first round, with a 2-under 70 and over the next three days continued pushing forward.

He maintained the lead, shooting 69, 69 and 72 over the final three rounds, finishing on 10 under par.

Balderstone Sports Institute head of marketing Roger King said after Du Plessis lost in the final of BSI’s Matchplay Championship his recent victory confirmed Du Plessis’s growth as a competitive golfer during his two years at the institute.
