Edenvale Marathon gears up for 2026: Robin Hide reappointed director
Early planning is now underway for the popular race, which will feature refreshed 5km, 15km, and 42km routes and serve as a qualifier for the 2026 Comrades Marathon and Two Oceans Marathon.
Following a recent meeting of the Edenvale Rand Road Warriors board, Robin Hide has been reappointed as race director for the 2026 edition of the Edenvale Marathon.
Hide, who successfully directed this year’s race, aims to get a head start on planning for next year’s event.
His early appointment allows both him and the club ample time to prepare, covering key areas such as marketing, procurement, establishing partnerships, meeting Joint Operations Centre requirements, and coordinating with the EMPD.

The 2026 marathon will introduce three refreshed and improved routes: a 5km fun run, a 15km blitz, and a full 42km marathon.
The marathon will once again serve as a qualifier for the 2026 Comrades Marathon and the Two Oceans Marathon.
Reflecting on the success of the 2025 event, Hide said the organising team is aiming to make the 2026 edition even bigger and better, with several exciting plans already in development.

While he acknowledged that organising a race of this scale comes with its challenges, he believes the lessons learnt from this year’s event will contribute to a smoother and more successful experience in 2026.
“We live in the real world, not a perfect one,” Hide added with a smile.
