Edenvale Panthers fall short in Valke Kestrel League final
The Panthers suffered a heartbreaking 25-22 defeat to Vanderbijlpark Mustangs in a thrilling league decider.
It was a day filled with bittersweet emotions for Edenvale Panthers Rugby Club when its first team took to the field for the final of the Valke Kestrel League.
Held on August 9 at Edenvale Sports Ground, the Panthers played against Vanderbijlpark Rugby Club’s Mustangs.
With both teams eyeing the coveted league title, the sports grounds were buzzing with excitement.

With a full house and the stakes raised, tension filled the air as both teams brought their A-game, ready to give it their all and claim the title of league champions.

Although the Mustangs secured the first points of the game, the Panthers were quick to regain ground, asserting a healthy lead over the away team by the time the halftime whistle blew.
Once back on the field, the Mustangs were determined to make a comeback.

Holding back the Panthers’ fierce attacks, the Mustangs stood their ground, tightening their defence.
They capitalised on key opportunities that allowed them to slowly chip away at the score to turn the game in their favour.
In the final minutes, the Mustangs scored the winning try, sealing the fate of the game and walked away with a 25-22 victory.
