Bedfordview rugby prodigy selected to represent South Africa in Italy tour

Bedfordview has a new young hero to celebrate.

Johan Rossel, a learner at President Steyn Primary School, will represent South Africa in Italy from December 1 to 10, marking a tremendous milestone in his rugby journey.

Johan’s achievement comes after an outstanding performance at Rhino Week, held in July at the Vaal University of Technology.

Competing among 275 talented young rugby players from across the country, Johan stood out with his determination, skill, and strong game sense.

His exceptional play earned him a place on the squad travelling to Italy, an opportunity many young athletes only dream of.

His selection reflects countless hours of training, commitment to his team, and support of his school, coaches, and family.

As Johan prepares to begin his high school journey next year at Leeuwenhof Akademie, the Bedfordview community is excited to watch his growth both on and off the field.

The capping ceremony took place on November 23, during which he was capped by U20 Junior Springbok Erich Müller.
