Off to the Dusi
Nearly 100 paddlers lined up at the Victoria Lake Canoe Club's clubhouse for the 15km race. Participants received free canoeing vests, medals, hot meals, as well as the chance to win R5 000 in prize money.
Donna Tutton from Bedfordview and Jane Swarbreck from Emmarentia teamed up to win the ladies race in 1 hour 14 minutes at the Germiston Lake on February 4.
The event was the final canoe race in Gauteng before the Dusi canoe marathon.

The race included a short running portage after five laps to practice getting in and out of the boats and carrying them.
Local development coach, Richard Cele, won the mixed doubles event with Sandra Eardley, in 1 hour 15 minutes.
