Spanish coach hosts coaching clinic
The clinic and conference was organised by the Edenvale Sports Club and the Edenvale Action Soccer Club.
A Spanish football academy coach held a coaching clinic at the Edenvale Sports Grounds on Saturday, March 29.
The clinic and conference was organised by the Edenvale Sports Club and the Edenvale Action Soccer Club.
Mr Sergi Angulo Lerin is an academy coach from Spain and La Liga team, RCD Espanyol Barcelona.
Lerin is the youngest and most highly qualified coach in Spain, and he took the time to part with some his knowledge to local footballers.
Lerin discussed tactics, strategies and the dynamics of coaching with the junior coaches. In addition to the discussions, he also held a training clinic with the youngsters in the U/11 to U/19 football teams.
Mr Tony Dias, the head coach of the Edenvale junior side said, “These coaching clinics are something we hope we can do on an annual basis. We want to teach the young players about the Spanish style of soccer, which focuses on possession play and not physical. We hope coaching clinics like this can improve the coaching scenario at the club and will attract good players to the club.”
Mr Lerin said, “My goal is to teach the coaches here about the methodology used in Spain. The current Spain football methodology has brought the country many success in the FIFA Euro League and the world cup. I am happy with the coaching clinic and how the coaches are learning.”
