Dancers head to New York
"We love everything about ballet and try our best to keep fit and stay flexible."
Six aspiring dancers have qualified to compete in the American Dance Awards Nationals.
Gabriella De Matos (14), Kyler Tavendale (15), Melissa Farhurst (12), Robin Walker and Tayla De Bie (12), from the Wells Studio of Ballet in Edenvale, participated in the American Dance Awards qualifiers held in Pretoria.
The girls received an “ultimate gold” for their group Sundown, which qualified them for the dance-offs.
After they participated in the dance-offs, they placed second in the small group category and have thus qualified to dance in New York in the 2016 Nationals.
The girls are raising funds for their trip to the American Dance Awards National.
“We are very excited about the competition. We love everything about ballet and try our best to keep fit and to stay flexible,” said Gabriella De Matos.
Tayla said spending time with her friends and cheering them on is one of the best elements of dancing as a team.
