Protea colours for karate students
They competed in the Africa Union Sport Council (AUSC) region 5 tournament held in Zimbabwe.
Students from the Michael Roetz Karate Institute in Edenvale received their Protea colours for karate after their rankings in their divisions were verified.
They were the top-ranked athletes for all styles in South Africa and the award was approved through SASCOC.
They competed in the Africa Union Sport Council (AUSC) region 5 tournament held in Zimbabwe.
Ethan Willett received second place in 12 to 13 year Kumite under 50kg.
Renstia Roetz won the 16 to 17 year Kumite category for under 53kg.
Marinda Roetz won the 14 to 15 years Kumite category for under 54kg.
Sensei Michael Roetz accompanied the Protea Team to Zimbabwe. He has been elected as the Director of Coaching for Karate South Africa.
