Over the years, the Edenvale SAPS has been calling for a better working relationship between Edenvale community members and the SAPS.
Sgt Jacob Mashile, head of the Edenvale’s Social Crime Prevention Unit, hopes to improve upon the relationship by hosting a sports day.
The event, Sports Against Crime, will be held on September 22 at the Edenvale Sports Grounds.
Mashile explained the event was put together by the Edenvale SAPS and the Edenvale CPF Youth Desk.
“All community members are welcome to join in and have some fun alongside the SAPS,” said Mashile.
He explained that the programme is focussed on strengthening the relationship between all police stations in the Ekurhuleni North Cluster and the community.
The day will begin at 8am. Food stalls offering various cuisines and live entertainment will be provided.
A 5km walk and run will be held and for those looking for more action, can participate in a soccer tournament.
