Local residents represent South Africa in the World Senior Badminton Championships

Rhona Fuller of St Andrews, Bedfordview and Eileen Howson of Cyrildene were selected to represent South Africa in the World Senior Badminton Championships.

The event was held in Whuan City in China from October 25 to October 28 and in the Sechuan province from November 2 to November 5.

This international competition was last held in Sweden in 2015 and is a Badminton World Federation event.

This honour tops an achievement-filled season for Rhona who won the ladies singles event at the SA Golden Eagles Championships held in East London in June.

After evaluation at several tournaments during 2017, she was awarded Badminton SA’s Sportswoman of the Year at senior level at this event.
