The team continued to apply pressure and were rewarded with a second goal moments before the half-time whistle, after a fumble by Olympia’s goalkeeper.

“The home side came on after half-time with a certain swagger that did them no favours.
“Within seven minutes of the second half, Olympia had clawed their way back into the game with two early goals,” said Peter Oliver, Germiston City Football Club chairperson.
The Germiston side was shell-shocked and took a while to regroup.
During the heated second half, an Olympia player was sent off the field, but even this did not help the home team.

Germiston was unable to capitalise on the man down and squandered many an opportunity.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw.
The Germiston reserve team, however, won against Olympia 3-1.
The Olympia Football Club will next face Old Benonians Sports Club in the Super League in a home match on August 18.
