At 3am sharp most teams started with the 50km distance set on the SkiErg.
Various gym teams competed in an all-night race for the Erg Ultra 2019 title at CrossFit Jozi in Rebel Fitness Central, Meadowdale.
Teams were racing to be the first to finish 350km of indoor skiing, rowing and cycling.
The competition also took place in Northcliff CrossFit, CrossFit Firebolt and CrossFit Mossel Bay.

Twenty-three teams consisting of 60 athletes arrived in the early hours of February 16 at CrossFit Jozi.
“At 3am sharp, most teams started with the 50km distance set on the SkiErg,” said Carl Alfonso, CrossFit coach as well as brand and marketing officer.
When the sun rose teams had settled into a rhythm and took turns to work, eat, change and recover.

By sunset, two teams were starting to pull ahead of most.

“Team Bad Decisions and Team This is Going to Hurt looked set to take first and second.”
“Team Bad Decisions planned to finish on the BikeErg, shortening their working intervals to stay fresh and even climbing out of the saddle to keep the flywheel spinning with vigour, while Team This is Going to Hurt needed to make their way home on the Model D rowing machine.

“Tall, lean and hungry to finish strong they made short work of their final few kilometres,” said Carl.
B4C Fit Factory named Team Bad Decisions the competition winners with 16.25:07, setting the record to beat for next year.
