Edenvale resident takes gold in Brazil
Aiden won the gold after beating opponents from Paraguay and the USA in sparring sessions.
Edenvale resident Aiden Smithson received a gold medal for sparring at the 2019 Unified Taekwon-Do World Championships.

The 14-year-old was part of a 27-member team from Authentic Centres for Excellence of Taekwon-Do SA which competed in the Brazil event in August.
Aiden won the gold after beating opponents from Paraguay and the USA in sparring sessions.
He has participated in the sport for six years and was awarded his black belt a year ago.
Besides sparring, the championships saw various disciplines like patterns, special techniques and power breaking put on display.
