Van der Merwe excels on the court

Tristan van der Merwe from Dunvegan-based Merrylyn Tennis Club excelled in the u-12 Gauteng East Daveyton Tournament.
The 9-year-old unseeded tennis player made it to the finals against the number one seed of the tournament Daniel Markan.
Despite making it to the finals van der Merwe was beaten by Markan 6-2/6-1.
In the doubles, Tristan and his partner won the tournament with a 6-1/6-1 victory.
“Van der Merwe has a bright future in the sport and is one of the most talented youngsters I have ever worked with,” said his coach Jean de Villiers.
