Saheti sports festival a success

"It is great to see learners playing sports and having fun."

It was fun and games at this year’s Saheti Rugby Sevens and Netball Tournament.

Sixty-four teams from across Johannesburg came together to compete in the annual tournament.

Under – 16 Saheti School netball players reach out in an attempt to prevent a pass between two HeronBridge College players.

Anna Botha, head of marketing for Saheti School, said over 500 learners and 17 schools took part in the winter sports season opener.

She said overall the tournament went well.

At the tournament the NEWS met with Saheti School alumnus Nick Catrakilis.

“The tournament went well. It was excellent,” said Nick.

“It is great to see learners playing sports and having fun.”

Nick said the alumni have been involved in the tournament for a number of years.

“We want to strengthen and build upon the Saheti ethos.”

Results for the Rugby Sevens finals were as follows:

• U-16 championship: Reddam House (19) vs Allen Glen High School (12).

• Open championship: Reddam House (19) vs Queens High School (12).

Results for the netball finals were as follows:

• U-16 championship: Saheti School A (9) vs Crawford Lonehill (2).

• Open championship: HeronBridge College (12) vs Crawford Lonehill (4).
