Heavyweights to groom local talent
Six lucky participants of the four-day programme will be awarded a bursary to further their studies in music production and DJ-ing.

The date is set for the ground-breaking Ekurhuleni Spring Fiesta 2015, taking place on October 3 at the Wild Waters Complex in Boksburg.
The partnership with the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) will see aspiring DJs and producers benefiting from the Spring Fiesta legacy programme.
From October 6 to 9, established local and international DJs, who are on the line-up at the festival, will conduct workshops to cultivate local talent.
Ekurhuleni spokesperson, Mr Themba Gadebe, said music professionals such as international heavy weight Osunlade and local industry game changers DJ Euphonik, DJ Mo Flava, DJ Naves and Reason will share their insights, experiences and knowledge. This will will equip the next generation of music industry leaders with the foundations they may need to start or improve their music journey.
“The workshops are a great means to ensure that the Ekurhuleni Spring Fiesta legacy lives on. The Fiesta may come and go, but the technical skills and knowledge in music production will live on in Ekurhuleni,” said Mr Gadebe.
In breaking the stereotypes of women in the male-dominated industry, the Pink Revolution movement, headed by DJ Zinhle and Nomdeni Mdakhi, will also feature on the workshop programme. They are expected to share their experiences about the role of women, the challenges of working alongside powerful male brands in music and how they have overcome them.
Mr Gadebe said six lucky participants of the four-day programme will be awarded a bursary to further their studies in music production and DJ-ing. Four bursaries to study Digital Music Composition and Production at Boston City Campus and two bursaries at the Fuse Academy for Girls are up for grabs. Lessons on the different functions of radio, professional, club and mobile DJs will also be part of the workshops.
