Hloma said he feels inspired and believes in himself more.
Hloma’s passion for music started when he was 11 years old and at 15 he was writing his own songs. Two years later he started recording his songs.
“Music is just in my blood. When I was younger I would listen to music with my dad and something about it just grabbed my attention,” said Hloma.
While growing up, Hloma drew inspiration from Eminem, Jay Z and Drake and he could relate to their music.
Besides being selected to feature at the SAHHA, Hloma has had one of his music videos played on Channel O, has performed on Y FM, had his music played by 5FM and opened for artists such as Gig Lamayne, Bigstar Johnson and Patty Monroe.
Hloma’s music video Playing With Fire, which was played on Channel O, was filmed at the Edenvale Skateboarding Park.
“When I was younger I never thought I would be in this position. While growing up I always thought I’d have a normal job,” said Hloma.
“Now that music has taken hold of me, I can’t escape it.”
He has released two mixtapes since becoming a rapper: Hloma Mind Zone and H You Did It Again were released in 2015 and 2017.
In 2016 he lauched his record label Dramatic Ink.
Hloma said what he takes pride in the most about his music is that he does not swear in any of his songs.
“I don’t need to swear. There are so many words which can be used to describe things. I want to be a good role model to the youth,” said Hloma.
Hloma said he hopes to inspire others through his songs and his videos.
“Edenvale has a lot of talented people. We are the next generation of iconic musicians – we all need to support one another,” said Hloma.
