TBT: Hair in the 90s
Hairstyles during the 90s were truly diverse, ranging from bouncy curls to pixie haircuts (come on up Winona Ryder).
From long to short hair, there was a style to suit anyone. The 90s hairstyles brought with it an influx of grunge, gothic and rap styles.
Here are our top five styles.
The Rachel
Jennifer Aniston made her ‘Friends’ hairstyle a must for any teenage and young adult woman. Every fan of the show either had, or knew someone who had, “The Rachel”.
Crimped
Ok let’s admit it, all us girls crimped our hair back then (cringe)! From Danielle Fishel’s character on Boy meets World to Jennifer Love Hewitt, crimping was all the rage.

High pigtails
Celebs like Emma Bunton and Britney Spears had 90s girls torturing themselves trying to get a middle path in their hair to get perfect high pigtails. If you were really “cool” you had the fluffy hair bands seen in Britney’s ‘Baby One More Time’ video.
Hair jewels
Ahh! No hairstyle in the 90s was complete without adding a bit of bling. You remember those little springy sparkly things that girls were forever losing.
Whatever this was
There really wasn’t a name given to this style but celebs made pulling your hair back tightly (ouch), with just two pieces of hair framing your face, fashionable.
