Make Father’s Day unforgettable
Make Father's Day fun with personalised gifts, breakfast surprises, outdoor adventures, crafts, and quality family time.
Tomorrow, 18 June, is Father’s Day!
Father’s Day is a special occasion to honour and appreciate the fathers or father figures in our lives.
While store-bought gifts are always appreciated, why not help your child make this Father’s Day even more memorable by creating a day full of love, laughter, and meaningful activities?
From handmade gifts and personalised cards to engaging activities and quality time spent together, these 10 ideas will ensure that fathers feel truly cherished and children enjoy a day of bonding and celebration.
- Customised Picture Frame: Let children decorate a plain picture frame with paints, stickers, or other craft supplies. Insert a favourite family photo or a picture of your child with their dad.
- Coupon Book: Help kids create a coupon book filled with special activities or favours they can offer their dad, such as “One Free Car Wash,” “Breakfast in Bed,” or “Movie Night of Dad’s Choice.”
- Memory Jar: Have children write down their favourite memories with their dad on small pieces of paper. Fill a decorative jar with these memories, creating a thoughtful and sentimental gift.
- Personalised T-shirt: Provide a plain white T-shirt and fabric markers for kids to design a unique shirt for their dad. They can draw pictures, write messages, or even trace their handprints.
- Breakfast Surprise : Start Father’s Day on a delicious note by involving the kids in preparing a special breakfast surprise for dad. Let them choose their dad’s breakfast items, such as pancakes, bacon, or freshly squeezed orange juice. Depending on their age and ability, children can help with mixing batter, flipping pancakes (under supervision), or setting the table. Serve the breakfast surprise with love and let dad enjoy a delightful start to his special day.
- Backyard Picnic: Set up a picnic spot in the backyard with a blanket, snacks, and refreshing drinks. Enjoy quality time together while sharing stories, playing games, or simply basking in each other’s company.
- Nature Scavenger Hunt: Create a scavenger hunt where children and dads can explore nature together. Make a list of items to find, such as specific leaves, rocks, or flowers, and provide small baskets or bags for collecting their treasures.
- Sports Day: Organise a mini sports day in the park. Plan fun activities like a three-legged race, sack race, or a friendly game of catch. Don’t forget to award dad with a homemade medal for being the best sport!
- Handprint Art: Help kids create handprint art by tracing their hand onto paper or canvas and letting them decorate it with paint or markers. They can write a sweet message, such as “Dad, you hold my heart in your hands.”
- Tie-rrific Card: Assist children in creating a unique Father’s Day card shaped like a tie. They can decorate the tie with markers, stickers, or even fabric scraps.
