Five-year-old Daniel Lucas of Germiston couldn't hide his excitement after receiving the treasure hunt prizes at the Bokkie Park.
The Bokkie Park Food and Craft Market hosted a treasure hunt for children on November 4 at the park on Southvale Road, Parkdene.
The almost four-hour event was filled with fun and had over 80 children participating in the treasure hunt for the chance to win great prizes.
Event organiser Janine Richardson was pleased with the participation and how excited the treasure hunters were to net the prizes.
The children paid R20 each to take part in the search for the hidden paper tokens or stickers that entitled them to pick a goody bag, some filled with treats and others had vouchers the children could redeem for other treasure prizes.
In search for the tokens in question, the hunters received clues which directed them to the market stalls where they discovered the stickers hidden in secret locations.
Part of the fun of the treasure hunt was that there was not only one winner at the end of the day. Every child received a goody bag and a prize.
Janine said they host the treasure hunt annually, as they do an Easter egg hunt.
“These events are perfect for families looking for a safe outdoor space to enjoy together and to wean youngsters off their computer screens.
“We had parents who came to thank us for organising something like this for their children.
“It is important to mention we did this market not for profit. The R20 entry fee covered the items inside the goody bags and the extra gifts were donated by the market and stall holders,” Janine said.
Diarise the Christmas treasure hunt, which will take place at the Christmas market on December 2 (09:00 -21:00), the last Bokkie Park market for the year.
