WNL Network empowers community through skill-based education

With the assistance of partners, WNL Network have been able to implement impactful community-based education initiatives.

WNL Network NPC, inspired by the vision of the late Pastor Ronnie Bernard of Word and Life Church, is a Level 1 BBBEE non-profit company dedicated to transforming communities through occupational skill-based education.

According to Akheem Waqar, from WNL Network, their mission is to provide accessible, work-based training that addresses the pressing challenges of an increasingly expensive education system, fostering employability, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic growth.

Waqar said with the invaluable support of partners such as the Word and Life Foundation, Marketplace Academy, Ambassadors for Good Project, and many others from the corporate sector, they have been able to implement impactful community-based education initiatives.

“These partnerships have enabled us to collaborate with schools like Oosrand School of Specialisation, Palm Ridge Secondary, Impelsweni School of Specialisation, Katlehong Secondary, Katlehong School of Specialisation, and Reigerpark Secondary.”

He said in these schools, they train and deploy youth coaches to guide learners through critical developmental stages, building their confidence, resilience, and purpose.

“Additionally, we conduct programmes like training adolescent health counsellors to address the health and well-being of learners in schools, ensuring they receive the care and education needed to thrive.

“Our work-based education model bridges the gap between theoretical learning and practical application, equipping individuals with real-world skills to secure employment or start their own ventures,” he said.

Challenges and how the community can assist
Despite WNL Network NPC’s achievements, they face challenges in meeting the growing demand for resources, including trainers, workplace partners, and financial support.

“We invite private companies, NGOs, and individuals to partner with us to help cover these costs and expand our reach. Your support can enable us to provide more training programs, improve infrastructure, and extend our services to underserved areas. Together, we can transform communities through the power of Work-based education and skills development,” he said.
