It is the 30th anniversary of democracy and less than a month before South Africans head to the polls for the national and provincial elections.

Boksburg Advertiser asked locals why they believe their vote will make a difference?

Lonwabo Keswa: Yes, because as young people voting for the first time we will be able to vote for a government who will tackle our issues, such as unemployment.
John Harris: Definitely because the people we vote in handle public finances. We must be involved and vote for those with good track records of handling these finances.
Chantel van der Byl: Yes, it will make a huge difference because I will vote objectively according to issues my community faces and not political rhetoric and false campaign promises.
Itumeleng Modiba: Yes, because I believe it is exercising my right of casting a ballot which puts a well-deserving political party in power.
