An Owls player touches down for a try for his team.
The Boksburg Rugby Club overcame the visiting Germiston Simmers 36-26 at Prince George Park on March 9, sending its supporters into celebration mode.
The Owls’ newly appointed chairperson, Renier Mostert, said although this was a friendly game, the victory against one of the oldest clubs in the city was important as it helps to encourage and motivate the players and is also good for supporters.
“I am pleased with the players’ performance. They are working exceptionally hard in preparation for the upcoming Presidents Cup and Valke Peregrine League,” he said.
The Owls will play their first Presidents Cup match of the season against Vereeniging Rugby Club (VRC) on April 6 at Prince George Park, while their first game in the Valke Peregrine League will be a home game against East Rand United.
The club needs financial help and is appealing for sponsorship.
