Dawn Park swimmer excels
The talented swimmer attributes his success in the pool to hard work.
Tetelo Letsoalo from Dawn Park is making a significant splash in the swimming world.
The 12-year-old Christian Brothers’ College learner joined the Boksburg Aquatic Saints about three years ago, and began his journey into competitive swimming a year afterwards.
Letsoalo explained that a teacher noticed his potential and inspired him to join the club.
A highlight in his swimming career is his performance at the recent Eastern Gauteng Aquatics (EGA) Winter Championships at St Benedict’s College in Bedfordview.
At the championships, Letsoalo clinched five gold medals in the 100m butterfly, 200m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke, and 100m individual medley events. Furthermore, he secured a silver medal in the 50m butterfly and a bronze in the 100m individual medley.
Letsoalo attributes his success to hard work.
“The more you train, the more you get results,” he said.
His dream is to follow in the footsteps of his hero, Chad le Clos, and become an Olympic swimmer.
Letsoalo offers practical advice for aspiring swimmers.
“Put effort into training and don’t have a negative attitude. Just always stay humble.”
His coach, Mark Stainton, said that he improved tremendously since he started swimming.
