Dojo’s karateka achieve black belt status

“Their determination to reach this amazing milestone in their karate journey is remarkable.”

It is estimated that only one out of 100 karateka will have the grit and determination to finally earn their black belts.

Spending countless hours on the mats of the Goju Karate Academy dojo, in Parkrand, a handful of athletes’ years of hard work and commitment has paid off, with some achieving their junior black belts while others graded to their first dan (shodan) black belts.

Athletes of the Goju Karate Academy, in Parkrand, recently completed their junior black belt grading.

“It can take between five to eight years to reach this accolade,” said fourth dan instructor, sensei Tarryn Madgwick.

“Dedicating between five to eight years to the craft is no small feat and we are immensely proud of these students’ achievement. This is a true testament of their character.”
