XKT brings home gold and glory
Seven XKT athletes battled it out at the national kickboxing championships, earning 12 medals and multiple national team selections.
Xtreme Kickboxing Technologies (XKT) delivered an outstanding performance at the recent South African Kickboxing Association (SAKA) Championships in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal.
SAKA, a member of the World Association of Kickboxing Organisations (WAKO), the only kickboxing body recognised by the International Olympic Committee, hosted the three-day event, which drew top athletes from across all provinces.
XKT president Raymond Phillips praised his athletes for their performances.
All provinces were present. Phillips said the standard of competition was tough. Everyone wanted gold and the national title.
Phillips added that the club was represented by seven athletes, who brought home four gold, four silver and four bronze medals.

He said the club was proud of these athletes’ achievements and their selection for the following teams:
Tatum du Plessis (national team), Bryan Lee Barnard (national team), MJ Beets (presidential team), Logan Lubbe (presidential team), Morne Simpson (presidential team), Tiaan Jacobs (presidential team) and Johnathan Duvenhage (presidential team).
“Kickboxing is one of the biggest combat events that happen internationally as well as on home ground. The discipline and dedication of these athletes are highly praised. It’s a sport that relies on skill and art that is obtained with years of training blood, swear and tears,” said Phillips.
