Gauteng teams battle it out in Brakpan for Legends netball tournament title
Rain was no deterrent for these legends teams as they battled it out on the netball courts.
Teams took part in the Abafazi the Legends over 40 netball league finals on October 11 on the netball courts at Hoërskool Stoffberg’s sports grounds.
Twist Real Netball Club hosted the league, which was created by Kempton Netball Club in 2024 for women over 40 to support those who still have a passion for netball but are not accommodated through normal leagues.
The league rotates venues between Kempton Park, Springs, Soweto, Pretoria, Vaal and now Brakpan.
The aim is to provide an opportunity for women to be active, fit and healthy while also raising awareness of gender equality, women’s empowerment and domestic abuse.
Twist Real Netball Club consists of women from Brakpan, Kwatsaduza, Benoni, Boksburg and Pretoria, and most members of the club are netball veterans who share their knowledge and experience with the younger generation.
