Local musician marks a decade of inspiring music
Experience Mashinini live at the venue as he captivates the audience with his soulful, spellbinding music.
Local pianist, producer and musical storyteller Sizwe Mashinini is celebrating 10 years since the release of his debut single, The Child Is Born.
Mashinini, a passionate music teacher dedicated to uplifting the Ekurhuleni community, will mark the milestone with a special event on March 28 at Gugu’s Garden in Vosloorus.
The musician, who grew up in Vosloorus, is a proud Ekurhuleni resident now based in Heidelberg. He remains deeply committed to giving back, with a strong passion for uplifting communities, particularly in his hometown, Boksburg.

Known for his emotionally rich compositions and spiritually moving performances, he has spent the past decade developing a distinctive sound that blends classical piano, jazz, soulful worship and cinematic gospel storytelling. His music is widely recognised for creating reflective and immersive experiences that foster spiritual and emotional connection.
Reflecting on the journey, Mashinini says purpose has always guided his work.
“Music has always been more than sound to me –it is a spiritual language. These ten years have been about creating moments where people can connect with something deeper,” he says.
The celebration event also marks the beginning of a new chapter, with plans for a nationwide tour.
Mashinini draws inspiration from African rhythmic heritage, particularly Swati rhythms, while incorporating modern production to keep African music globally relevant.
As part of his growing international footprint, he recently performed alongside Thuli Fundama during a film festival programme linked to the Cannes Film Festival in France.
The performance formed part of his ongoing mission to expand African worship and musical storytelling onto international stages.
Beyond performing, he has built a strong reputation as a producer whose work spans across film scoring, theatre, collaborations and commercial projects. He has also worked with Tebs David and international producer Hasan Green.
Mashinini is also committed to developing young talent, having shared his expertise at the Gauteng Music Academy, and forms part of the renowned group Stimela.
