Local beauty in line for Mrs SA title

“The Mrs South Africa is not just a beauty pageant, it’s a women empowerment project and is creating a sisterhood among women of all races, from all over South Africa.”

A Geluksdal resident is one of the top 100 semi-finalists in the run to become the next Mrs South Africa.

Simone Myburgh (34) told the Herald that she was at work when she heard the good news.

“My colleagues and I were screaming and jumping up and down in the office,” said Simone.

Simone graduated from Unisa, in marketing management with a distinction, proving that she’s a force to be reckoned with.

This former Brakpan High School learner also enjoys reading, fashion designing and gardening in her spare time.

Describing Mrs South Africa, Simone said the following: “The Mrs South Africa is not just a beauty pageant, it’s a women empowerment project and is creating a sisterhood among women of all races, from all over South Africa.”

“We received the most entries in the history of Mrs South Africa this year,” said Joani Johnson, CEO of Mrs South Africa.

The 100 semi-finalists will go on to compete at the semi-final weekend, at Emperors Palace, from April 26 to 28.
