Blue lights and boots on the ground as Brakpan SAPS intensifies crime prevention
The operation saw officers and CPF members deployed across identified hotspots, where they conducted enforcement activities to combat crime and enhance public safety.
Blue lights, roadblocks and increased police visibility were on full display across Brakpan during a SAPS high-density operation aimed at preventing crime and reassuring residents and business owners.
The operation was held from 18:00 on June 20 until 02:00 on June 21.
Brakpan SAPS Vispol commander Colonel Robert Makopo led the parade at Carnival City, supported by Vispol support head Lieutenant Colonel Pearl van Staad.
The parade was attended by Brakpan SAPS Vispol members, SAPS East Sub-District members and CPF patrollers led by chairperson Tinus Jordaan.
“The operation aimed to deter criminal activity through the increased visibility of law enforcement officers and patrol vehicles at identified hotspots, making these areas less vulnerable to opportunistic crimes such as theft, hijackings and robberies,” said Constable Audrey Buthelezi, Brakpan SAPS social crime prevention and communications officer.

“Through strategic roadblocks, stop-and-search operations and compliance inspections, SAPS disrupted illicit activities, confiscated drugs, arrested illegal immigrants, closed illegal shebeens, confiscated alcohol and arrested drunk drivers.
“During the operation, response times were improved through the deployment of saturation teams to challenging areas.
“The high visibility of law enforcement officers also reassured community members and business owners, reducing fear and demonstrating SAPS’ capacity to maintain law and order.”
Makopo thanked all SAPS members and stakeholders for their dedication and commitment to crime prevention.
He welcomed the successes achieved during the operation, stating that the strong law enforcement presence was one of its greatest achievements.
