Vita Nova treated to a sparkly surprise

The residents of Vita Nova are more than happy to have received their wonderful gifts.

Residents at Vita Nova were met with a pleasant surprise on April 11. They were treated to a jewellery donation by a good Samaritan, Pam Read, and all those who helped her make it a possibility.

“I’d been to Vita Nova as a visitor with a church group and mentioned to a friend how inspiring the community there is.

“She told me how she’d been part of a Rotary Ann group who, several years ago, had collected jewellery and had a tea party where the residents could choose pieces.”

Pam was very excited about the idea.

“She offered to start a collection for me and pass the word around to her friends if I wanted to do the same thing.”

Pam says she is blessed with generous friends who helped her collect over 400 necklaces, bracelets, brooches, earrings and rings.

“I asked Michelle (Immelman, centre director) if she thought this would be an event for her residents and she was very happy to support with the venue and helpers.”

“Marianne MacDonald and Alet Low from the Selcourt Methodist Church group came along to help, as they know the residents well.”

Michelle and some of her staff were present and were all too happy to help. Michelle says the residents, both men and women, could not contain their excitement.

“The girls loved it as they chose from a big range of jewellery. They wear their beautiful pieces every day,” beams Michelle.

“A huge thank you to every person who contributed jewellery, you gave joy to so many people,” says Pam.
