Weekend crime round-up (October 4, 5 and 6)

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

Friday

An Isuzu bakkie was stolen from an address along Trollip Road, Brenthurst.

Two homes were burgled.

A television set was stolen from a home in Koako Avenue, in Leachville, and a computer and other electronics were stolen from a house in Ellis Street, Sherwood Gardens.

Thieves stole copper cables and other copper components from a business in Electron Road, Vulcania.

A car parked in Derby Avenue was broken into and robbed of its battery and sound system.

Saturday

Police arrested a man for business burglary after he was found inside a shop in Prince George Avenue.

The shop’s alarm was triggered at about 10.15pm, after the man broke in through the ceiling.

A security company and the shop owner found the shop is disarray and the man, who had been hiding.

Two home burglaries were reported.

A cellphone was stolen from a home in Civin Road, Sonneveld, and jewellery, cash and beer were stolen from an address along Springs Road, Witpoortjie.

A gold Toyota Conquest was stolen from the corner of Prince George Avenue and Abercorn Street.

Sunday

A television set was stolen from a home in Tiller Road, Dalpark.

A home in Claito Street, in Sonnveld, was broken into, but nothing was stolen as the burglars were interrupted by the homeowner.

The woman was awakened by footsteps at about 3.45am and got up to investigate.

She saw an unknown number of men trying to force her television set through a broken window, but wrestled it away from them.

The suspects fled the scene empty-handed.
