Tsakane businessman celebrated by global whisky brand

Successful Tsakane bar owner Tom Shilaluke was recently selected as one of seven businessmen who were memorialised by iconic global whisky brand Glenmorangie.

Each nominee was presented with a bespoke portrait, shot at the prestigious Rand Club, by renowned photographer Tim Hulme.

Seven bars and owners in the Gauteng area that embody the unnecessarily “well made spirit” were selected for this prestigious honour.

“These one-of-a-kind portraits are acknowledgement that the bar owners have elevated their businesses above the competition, and a celebration of their respected standing in the community,” said Sean Olivier, Glenmorangie marketing manager.

“We have been afforded the opportunity to work with outstanding entrepreneurs on this project that embodies the spirit of Glenmorangie.”

Shilaluke, the owner of Chillas Pub and Grill, in Tsakane, was born in Elim, a small town in Limpopo, where he began his entrepreneurship from an early age.

He would buy anything that he could resell and, due to this innovative way of thinking, has pushed his entrepreneurship to a level where he is now famously known on the East Rand as the owner of Chillas.

Like most young men, Shilaluke aspired to be a top businessman in his community.

“It is only fitting that the brand is associated with and celebrates the top bar owners who go the extra mile in Gauteng,” said Olivier.

“This is a prestigious acknowledgement not only for the bar owner, but for the community.”
