Talented Joe sings his way to the Top 18

"It's my time to shine." So said Dalpark Extension Nine resident Joe Fredericks, who recently made it to the finals of the hit television talent show, SA's Got Talent.

The 33-year-old singer, who has been singing since he was five years old, believes he has what it takes to win the competition.

SA’s Got Talent is a country-wide talent search for South Africa’s next great act, and singers, dancers, comedians, variety acts, and other talents of all ages, have taken to the stage to compete.

“While I’m excited, I must say it’s very hard work to be part of the ‘top dogs’, because there is so much pressure,” said Joe.

“This is a huge competition and all the participants are so good.”

Joe is, however, confident that he will make it to the top.

“I believe I will; I’ve had the most ratings on the show so far, which counts for a lot,” he said.

Joe, who originally hails from Addo in the Eastern Cape, has lived in Brakpan for the past eight years and is extremely passionate about singing.

“I have waited long enough for this opportunity and I feel I’m now mature,” he said.

“I just want to share my gift with the whole world.”

Joe is married to Andrea (29), and the couple have two children, Nehimiah (8) and Jasmine (5).

The husky-voiced singer is also the senior praise and worship leader at Siloam Ministries, in Dalpark, and works as a bookkeeper at a Mercedes Benz dealership in Boksburg.

Hosted by Tats Nkonzo and judged by DJ Fresh, Shado Twala and Lalla Hirayama, the show airs on Sundays, at 6.05pm, on e.tv.

This weekend’s episode will be a live broadcast and the public will be able to vote for their favourite act.

The competition winner will walk away with R250 000.
